The Sahayak Trust (TST) was established to provide support through basic/early education and income generating skills training in rural areas. TST also focuses on education in low cost and sustainable technologies, particularly in the fields of health, agriculture, livelihoods and ecology to economically disadvantaged rural populations.

BASIC EDUCATION

The Trust believes that education can transform lives. It is entirely funded by its Founders and within its limited funds it seeks to make relevant education accessible at the doorstep of people in need of it, helping them to use their own locally available resources. It does so itself and also largely through training of partners who share its belief and are already working effectively in local communities. The Sahayak Trust Institute for Rural Education has been running balwadis , sewing classes and other skill based education in Maharashtra since 1984.

The Trust also manages a fully equipped Exhibition-cum-Training Centre in Bhopal, Madhya Pradesh, where it conducts Training of Trainers (TOT) programs, certificate courses, and practical learning sessions. The centre accommodates up to 20 participants for residential, hands-on training.

CERTIFICATE COURSES

To build capacity among the next generation of changemakers, we offer a Certificate Course on Nutrition and Organic Kitchen Gardens for Nutrition in collaboration with several agricultural universities. This course combines theoretical knowledge with practical skills, enabling students—especially those in agriculture and home science—to become trained community educators and nutrition champions.

At The Sahayak Trust, we believe that nutrition education is key to building healthier communities and sustainable livelihoods. To strengthen this focus, we have established the Institute for Nutrition Education, which leads a variety of educational initiatives designed to inform, inspire, and empower.

Our initiatives extend beyond rural areas—we actively promote Organic Kitchen Gardens for Nutrition (OKGNs) and microgreens cultivation in urban communities, encouraging sustainable, space-efficient ways to improve nutrition.

ORGANIC KITCHEN GARDENS

We believe that education is the foundation for lasting change, and by spreading awareness and skills, we help individuals take charge of their health and nutrition, wherever they live. We combine nutrition education with the promotion of Organic Kitchen Gardens for Nutrition (OKGNs) in schools, Anganwadis and communities—offering a simple way to combat nutritional deficiency anaemia.

ANAEMIA FREE INDIA FORUM

Since 2010, The Sahayak Trust has pioneered the convergence of health and organic nutrition gardens alongside partners like Rotary Club of Bombay and NOCW, Wardha. This initiative evolved into the Anemia Free Vidarbha Forum (AFVF) in 2016, which rapidly expanded from 19 to 36 partners. Driven by national demand and the scale of the crisis, the Anemia Free India Forum (AFIF) was established in January 2018 to drive impact across the country.

ANAEMIA FREE INDIA FORUM

AFIF brings together organizations that share a common vision to eliminate anaemia. It facilitates the exchange of knowledge and field experiences among partners who implement impactful nutrition interventions. The Trust provides educational inputs and hands-on training to AFIF partners. Our integrated approach aligns health and nutrition through OKGNs, resulting in tangible improvements in haemoglobin levels and community well-being.
